Our Story

A Cellar Hand is the assistant to the Winemaker, and he or she plays an invaluable role in the day-to-day operations of the Winery. They perform a multitude of tasks throughout the year, whether it is pitching in at harvest, working the crush pad, racking the barrels or monitoring the barrel-aging process. No job is too menial for these hardworking folks. The rewards for all of this effort? The opportunity to ride shotgun with our Winemaker and learn the ropes of this exacting & passionate art form. And, oh yes, the chance to continually enjoy tasty barrel samples throughout the vintage!

The inspiration behind this wine was to reward our Cellar Hands for their hard work and give them the opportunity to create something unique and interesting on their own. So we gave them a few barrels, a small corner in our winery and the latitude to experiment and have fun. The results of these playful experiments are found here in this wine. Enjoy!
